MESSAGE FROM THE HIGH COMMISSIONER

The Kenya High Commission promotes trade and provides information on investment incentives and opportunities into Kenya. The Mission also projects and promotes Kenya as a leading tourist destination.
APPEAL FOR DONATIONS TOWARDS THE INTERNALLY DISPLACED FAMILIES IN KENYA
The High Commission wishes to thank the individuals and organizations who have been calling in the last few days enquiring on where to channel their donations both in cash and in kind towards the internally displaced families in Kenya. The High Commission welcomes with gratitude from all people of goodwill any assistance that would help alleviate the suffering of the displaced families. In this regard, the High Commission advises as follows:
1. FINANCIAL DONATIONS
The donations can be paid directly to the Kenya High Commission bank account listed below or send a cheque payable to the Kenya High Commission. Where possible, please include your name and address for acknowledgement. Please send your donations to the following account:

2. DONATIONS IN KIND
The High Commission is unfortunately unable to accept donations in kind to support those affected by the crisis. Very often the cost of transporting a "free" donation from the UK is more than the total value of the donation itself. When responding to an emergency, whenever possible the High Commission recommends sourcing of such items locally. This benefits the local economy (by helping local markets and traders) and allows us to take into account local tastes, traditions and culture. Local purchasing also helps us reduce transport costs and speed up delivery times. Financial donations will enable us to help more people, more efficiently.
